Changes for 2024

We had the annual meeting after the round and the following information was discussed...

- Keep the handicap as is. 2 under to 4 over does not change the handicap at all.  Max increase is 2 strokes and there is no cap for losing handicap.

- Retain the same entry fee at $300 which includes $140 for the prize fund and $20 for all eight rounds totaling $160.

- New additions to the league- Jamey Legrant (Lucky) nominated by Randy Shadwick; Kyle Lamkins nominated by Phil Lamkins; Alan Simpson nominated by Mike Myers.  It was agreed that since there are 8 months between next season, if someone wants to nominate someone they can text all members of the league for approval.  Jim Etzkorn said he will more than likely want back in next year, which leaves 2 spots for us to reach 24 members if no one drops out.

- Javan asked to remove the Oaks and replace it with Deer Chase; Gabe asked to remove Bear Creek and it was replaced with Lake Valley.

- If Joplin gets rained out, we will make up the round at Columbia Country Club on the rainout date listed on the schedule.

- 65 years and older have the option to play from one tee up but must declare their tee's for the whole year prior to the first round.

- Free rock and root relief in normal field of play, nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole.  Must be agreed upon within your group.

- Payouts will remain at 8 places next season.

Changes for 2023

We had our meeting after the round as well and there were a few changes coming for 2023.  I have highlighted those changes below...

-There is now a 6 shot window for the handicap to not change.  2 under to 4 over par means your handicap remains the same.  Previously the window was from 1 under to 4 over par.

-$300 entry will be paid up front and there will be no need to pay for the side games at each course. Entry fees are now $140 and side games remain at $20 each round.

-Original 12 members have ability to not approve a new member and it only takes one vote to do so.

-The Oaks at Tantara will replace Eldon.

-65 years and older have the option to move forward a tee at any tournament. If they decide to do so then they will remove 4 strokes from their Handicap

-Payouts for year end standings will now be paid out to 8 people.

Changes for 2022

2022 Meeting was held and below are the agreed changes voted on by those who were there.

- Eldon has been added to the course list and Lake Valley has been removed

- Bear Creek is back and Osage National has been removed

- Start Earlier in April to close the season out sooner

- If a player commits to playing and then backs out within 2 weeks of the tee times then they are required to pay the $20 side games fee and their points will not be counted for future tournaments until they have paid.  This will hopefully decrease the amount of those committing to play and then not showing up.

- Hanicaps cannot go below 0, no plus handicaps

- Added 2 members- Ronnie and Javin.  I dont know their last names.

MEETING CHANGES FOR 2021

2021 League is underway with the meeting behind us.  Below are the topics discussed and the changes we have made for the year...

Sand is rake and place in all bunkers if there is a rake.  If there is no rake around the bunker then you move it to the nearest point of relief and play from there.

Next years annual meeting will take place at the end of the final tournament which is currently scheduled for Old Kinderhook.  This will take place of the current meeting which we just had.  Any changes or additions will be voted at this meeting and you must attend to vote.

The scheduler is asking that you respond to a text stating if you will attend or will not attend the next round.  He is asking for this to be done at least a week in advance so he can properly schedule the tee times.  If you do not reserve a tee time with the scheduler then you may not have a tee time reserved for you.

Entry fee has been increased to $125 per player this year.  All fees need to be paid prior to the persons second round playing.

Scoring is still double par plus 2 for max score per hole.

Handicap max has been set as 36 strokes.  Anyone who exceeds this will be capped at 36 strokes.

Handicap Metric is staying as adjusted.  Adjusted scoring has a 5 stroke window, 1 under par to 4 over par, that keeps the handicap the same.  Anything less than 1 under par will remove strokes from the handicap.  Any score above 4 over par will increase your handicap with a max of 2 strokes.

Pairings will remain the same.  First 2 rounds are with whoever you want, next 3 rounds are random pairing, final 3 rounds are based on ranking.

Courses will be posted in schedule.  Only change is we added Boonville as a course and removed Bear Creek.

Payouts will  be paid to 6 places.  Payout totals will be posted in the rankings section.

We added 3 new members this year and lost 1.  Chris Doughty returns (the leagues first Champion), Joe Holtsclaw, and Dakota Quinlan.

This is all we discussed and I look forward to another year of fun times and some good golf!  See ya at the course!

Adsjusted Handicap...

This year the window for any players handicap to remain the same. No changes between net 2 under par to net 4 over par.  This 6 shot window will allow those who shoot around their handicap to benefit from the consistent play and have their handicap remain the same.  A player can lose an unlimited amount of strokes from their handicap depending on how well they play and a player may increase their handicap a max of 2 strokes if their net score falls outside the 6 shot window (-2 under par to 4 over par).

Below are a few examples on how to calulate your handicap...

A player who is a 10 handicap shoots a 85 on a par 72.  The net score would be 75 so the players handicap remains the same since it falls in the 5 shot window described above.

A player who is a 10 handicap shoots a 78 on a par 72.  The net score would be a 68 so the player would lose 2 strokes off their handicap for the next round because the score is 2 strokes below 2 under par.

A player who is a 10 handicap shoots a 93 on a par 72.  The net score is an 83 so the player would gain 2 strokes for their handicap on the next tournament because the score is more than 2 strokes above the 6 shot window (-2 under par to 4 over par) and the max a player can get each round is 2 strokes.

A player who is a 10 handicap shoots an 87 on a par 72.  The net score is 77 so the player would gain 1 stroke for their next tournament because they were 1 stroke above the 6 shot window.

Hopefully this helps everyone understand the new system but if you have any questions please let me know.

Rules

This highlights some of the more common rules. All foursomes will have a USGA rulebook with them, and the current field will serve as the committee.

  1. You may lift clean and place your ball prior to every shot outside a hazard and rake and place inside bunkers, and you may improve your lie no closer to the hole as close to its original position as possible.  Once your ball is
placed, it is in play and is subject to all rules.
       You may not
improve your situation (ie. rough to fairway, fringe to green, etc.)

  2. You may move your ball off of rocky areas and without penalty, but it is to be played at the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.

  3. Local relief is dictated by the rules of the scorecard at each individual course.

  4. Please play "ready golf" (except for on the tee) to speed up play.  If you are ready to play your shot, you may play it even if you are not away.

  5. The ball must always be played into the cup, no "gimmies".

  6. There will be a maximum score of double the par plus two stroke per hole. (par 3 = 8, par 4 = 10, par 5 = 12)

  7. All hazards (except Bunkers) are played as the ball lies without relief.  You may not ground your club or move any loose impediments.

  8. Standing water on the course that is not intended to be a water hazard is casual water and you may have free relief from these areas without penalty, again placing your ball at the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.

  9. If you move another player's ball while it is in play, new rules state there is no penalty and the ball is to be replaced in its original position.

  10. Water hazards are defined by yellow or red stakes, a line, or no markings (water's edge).  A ball is in the water hazard if any part of it touches the hazard line or, if there are stakes instead of a line, if it is inside or on the line of the stakes it is between.  Your options from a water hazard are, after adding a one stroke penalty: 1. Replay the shot (stroke and distance) 2. Place a ball anywhere on a line extending from the pin and crossing the ball's last point of entry to the hazard but no closer to the hole 3. Place a ball anywhere in a designated drop zone if applicable 4. If the hazard is lateral (defined by red stakes or a red line) you may place the ball within two clublengths of the last point of entry to the hazard but no closer to the hole, or from a point on the opposite margin of the hazard but equidistant from the hole.

  11. Out of bounds is defined by white stakes, a boundary fence, or a white line. A ball is out of bounds when the entire ball is on or over the white line, or if there is no line, the entire ball is on or over an imaginary line drawn from the stakes or fenceposts it lies between.  Shots hit out of bounds must be replayed from the original position with a one stroke penalty added to the stroke that traveled out of bounds. (ie. If your tee ball finishes out of bounds you must hit off the tee and you will be hitting your 3rd shot)  Out of bounds fences or stakes are not considered obstructions, and you cannot take relief from them.

  12. Lost balls must be within the course may be played as a lateral hazard and one penalty stroke will be assessed.   However, if it is clearly determined by your foursome that your ball was interfered with by an outside agency you may replace the ball without penalty at the closest agreed upon spot where you believed it to be.  Please hit a provisional shot if you think your ball might be lost so as not to slow down play.

  13. Cart paths and man made objects such as control boxes, water houses, signage, and bathrooms are free relief obstructions.  If the obstruction inhibits your stance or swing path, you can place your ball without penalty within one club length from the nearest point of relief of the obstruction no closer to the hole.

  14. At any time you may declare your ball unplayable, except when it is in a water hazard. Your options for an unplayable lie include, after adding a one stroke penalty: 1. Replay the shot (stroke and distance) 2. Place a ball anywhere on a line from the pin through the original ball's position but no closer to the hole 3. Place a ball within two clublengths of the original lie but no closer to the hole.  If declaring an unplayable lie from a bunker, and you choose option 2 or 3, you must drop your ball (as opposed to placing it), and it  must remain in the bunker.

  15. Your bag may only contain 14 clubs.  The penalty for too many clubs is 2 strokes per hole with a maximum of 4 strokes, and you must declare the extra clubs unusable.

  16. Shot solicitation as well as measuring devices will be allowed during tournament play.
